Beach and Backwater Trips from Bangalore

Bangalore doesn't sit on the coast, but two of the more relaxed getaways from the city take you to it — this collection covers our beach and backwater trips: Pondicherry, for its French Quarter, beach promenade and a slower, café-driven pace, and Kochi & Alleppey, which pairs a Kerala city visit with the backwaters and houseboats Alleppey is known for. These two trips are a deliberate change of pace from the hill-station and temple trips elsewhere on this site. Pondicherry trades altitude for a coastal town built around walking streets, colonial architecture and the sea. Kochi & Alleppey trades it for water in a different form — the backwaters, typically experienced from a houseboat, alongside time in Kochi itself. Neither involves the climbing or trekking that some of our hill-station itineraries do, which makes both a comfortable choice if you'd rather spend the trip unwinding than being active. Both currently run as multi-day trips with an overnight stay, given the distance from Bangalore — Pondicherry to the east coast and Kochi & Alleppey down into Kerala.
